One, entitled "Geotechnical Problems Involved in Foundations of Structures in the North Sea," examines the behavior of the sea bed beneath structures such as platforms, bridges, and pipelines and deals with problems such as the stability of structures resting on fine sand, where it is necessary to make predictions of the undrained bearing capacity of footings on the sand, and the effect of repeated wave loads on structures and foundations.

The second report, entitled "Problems of Soil Mechanics and Construction on Soft Clay," is a state-of-the-art report presented at the 8th International Conference on Soil Mechanics and Foundation Engineering, Moscow, 1973.

Also contained in this publication is a bibliography of papers by Laurits Bjerrum.
