1938 7 February, Emanuel Raft was born in Suez, Egypt of Greek father and Italian mother.
1955 Exodus of Europeans from Egypt Family moved to Sydney, Australia.
1956-59 Attended the Bissietta Art School.
1959-60 Attended the Brera Academy, Milan Italy.

1960 Studied sculpture with Luciano Minguzzi.
1961 Meets Clement Meadmore and Max Hutchinson. Designs furniture and exhibition stands with Meadmore. Starts experimenting with welded metals. First wearable objects.
1962 Meets Ron Sutherland, architect tor Wollongong Teachers College.
1963 Began teaching at the School of Architecture, University of Sydney.
